I’ve lived in AZ for over 20 years and I have rarely, if ever, heard a sermon in a PWC(predominately White church) about eternity. When your preaching/teaching is anchored in the temporal, your congregation loses the ability to grasp the eternal. They consequently become entangled in carnalities. Second Timothy 2:4; Hebrews 12:1
It seems to me that some people are attempting to make themselves feel comfortable about something that is making them uncomfortable which is undoubtedly the Holy Spirit convicting them. So instead of submitting to the Spirit they are leaning into their flesh. FYI- Black preachers have been unapologetically preaching about socio-political issues for two centuries going back to abolition but that’s a larger conversation which I have been writing about for years.
